Transition Curriculum

When students leave the school system or leave home, they don't miraculously develop the ability to self advocate. We are intentional with everything we do about helping our students to develop and refine self advocacy skills. One way we have done that is through utilizing curriculum programs like Celebrate EDU and ONEder Academy in order to utilize their curricula to offer transition,  business and entrepreneurial classes to our students and their families. Some of the topics in these courses will include but are not limited to:

Traditional Transitional Classes:

• Social - Emotional Development

• Executive Functioning Skills (e.g. organizing, prioritizing, planning, time management)

• Independent Living Skills

Business and Entrepreneurial Classes:

• Resume Writing and Interview Skills

• Support Network & Goal Setting

• Self Advocacy and Entrepreneurship

• Discover Your Strengths

• Email Safety & Sending Professional Emails

• Successful Problem Solving

Recreational Therapy

Recreation is a core value here at The H.E.A.R.T Center! Without recreation, life doesn't carry much enjoyment or meaning. In order to help our students develop into healthy, independent young adults–we put a heavy focus not only on teaching through recreation modalities but introducing them to new recreation opportunities that they may find interest and enjoyment in. Our CTRS's have put together a great assortment of recreation classes to include in our school curriculum!

Topics will include but are not limited to:

• Fitness

• Culinary Classes

• Horticulture

• Adaptive Sports

• Yoga

• Swimming

Enrollment

The H.E.A.R.T. Center accepts applicants on a rolling basis until capacity for the school year is reached. We are currently accepting 2021-2022 applicants.
